St. Andrew’s has its historical and theological roots in the reformed tradition. However, as a church we strive to be both biblically and culturally relevant to today’s fast changing world around us. It is our desire that you will find St. Andrew's a place to explore Christianity at your own pace, a place where you and your family can grow spiritually in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Our mission statement is "reaching people, building lives."

We believe all people have been uniquely created by God. Being created by God, each person has an inner hunger to discover who God is and to fully enjoy Him. As a church we want to help people discover God through Jesus Christ. We also want to assist people in growing and maturing in the Christian life.

Let me briefly share with you how we think as a church, those things we are committed to, what makes us tick:

Committed to God’s word, the Bible.

We believe it teaches us the truth and we want to make it clear and interesting to everyone in our church. So we work hard at making the Bible practical, clear and powerful. In our services and in all the areas of instruction the Bible matters to us.

Committed to Worship

We are the people of God and the one unique thing we have is the privilege of worshipping the true God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. We strive for a musically blended worship experience. We have praise team, a Chancel choir, and a drama team. We endeavour to make our worship experience accurate, authentic, and thoughtful.

Committed to Fellowship

People everywhere are looking for friendships. But Christian fellowship has another dimension besides friendship. It’s an intimacy that is unique to the Christian faith, because of our union with Jesus Christ. We live in a transient society, so we have learned that we have to get at the business of building friendships quickly when people visit us. We work hard at being friendly and help you meet new people, help you connect with others you can relate to.

Committed to Sharing our Faith

We think of sharing our faith both globally and locally. We are committed to support missionaries and mission organizations around the world who are themselves committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Locally, it is our commitment to live out our faith to those we come in contact everyday.

Who is this Guy who has traveled the country with a guitar on his back and a Bible in his hand?

  • Could he be the guy born in
    Winnipeg, living in the same
house for 33 years, playing hockey at the Isaac Brock Community Centre and swimming at Sherbrook pool?
  • Did he really build a raft using telephone poles in his back yard miles away from the closest river?
  • Did he purposely leave his guitar in Elim Chapel the night the church burned down, just so he had a real excuse to buy a Guild guitar?
  • Did he really play in the band called “Lily Street Caravan” who was the warm up band for Chad Allan and the Reflections [later known as The Guess Who]?
  • Did he like school so much that he decided to continue another 14 years after high school? After Daniel Macintyre, BA at University of Winnipeg, MA at Winnipeg Theological Seminary [later known as Providence], M Rel at University of Toronto, Wycliffe College, Diploma in Church Ministries, Knox College, U of T, and further studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

That’s right, all of that is him. Along the way, he was on staff at Elim Chapel in Winnipeg, Knox Presbyterian Church on Spadina in Toronto, and Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, BC before coming to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Welland in 2005.

Guy and his wife Lori have two grown sons, Adrian and Benjamin.

GODLY LEADERSHIP - People with appropriate gifts should lead ministries. Where there is authentic leadership, there will be a lasting impact on future generations.

LIFE CHANGE - Life change happens in the heart of an individual. Therefore, we will seek to offer a balanced disciplined ministry, challenging people to see Christianity's relevance for all ages of their lives.

EVANGELISM
- People who are far away from God matter to Him. Therefore, it would be our desire to provide a safe place where they can investigate Christ and His claims and experience Him at their own pace.

COMMUNITY IN SMALL GROUPS (HOME BIBLE STUDY) - All our people ened to connected in a biblically functioning small home Bible group where they can reach the unchurched, develop their relationships and grow into Christ-likeness.

EXCELLENCE - Our highest calling is to honour Christ with our lives and service. Knowing this requires excellence.

TEAMWORK - Every believer is called to serve others with their spiritual gifts. Community can happen when we combine gifts with others in teams.

PRAYER - Effectiveness in ministry is dependant upon prayer. Therefore, the visioning, planning and achievement of ministry will be upheld in prayer.

FAMILY - It is important to reach people early in life and partner with families as we seek to encourage them and challenge them to a lifetime of devotion to Christ.

CULTURAL RELEVANCE - We continue to uphold the Bible as true and relevant for today. We will endeavour to present the unchanging gospel message in ways that are relevant to our changing culture.

WE BELIEVE:

The eternal truths of the Christian faith, the Bible is true in all it says.

That our sins separate us from God and that is is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ we are forgiven and given eternal life.
